Day 13, Wednesday June 5th:
We woke up this morning thinking we had slept in, only to
realize that what we thought was 11am was more like 8am. We met Dan’s roommates Christine and Lenny. Christine is a photography student who also
paints. She was kind enough to show us
some of her work which was amazing.
Lenny, a former Finance major has been living in San Diego since 2005
and seems to be quite the world traveler.
When talking about our roadtrip he took out a box of 15-20 national park
maps from different places he had been. For
breakfast we went to a local cafĂ© called Leilani’s which has amazing French
toast and coffee.
We then went to La Jolla with the purpose of seeing the seals. The area was great and we hung out on the beach and rocks while walking around to take in the atmosphere.
From there we headed out to Fidel’s Little Mexico Restaurant where we got drinks for happy hour, some tacos, and had a live mariachi band performance.
We wanted to hike Torrie Pines for the sunset but got lost along the way. While getting lost we came to a cliff which was used for parasailing where we met Jake who was gliding all over the place on and off the cliff. This type of parasailing was done without a rope attached to the ground or a boat. If the wind died down he would fall over 100 feet to the beach below.
