Day 20, Wednesday June 12th:

We woke up as the restaurant opened in the morning in order to grab some breakfast before hitting the road.  After grabbing a quick bite and meeting the owner, Pat, we left to go find the gate to Area 51.  10 miles down a dirt road we came to road block which was the back entrance.  The gate was covered with many signs urging us not to take photography and to turn around.

After a couple of pictures, we decided we had seen enough and left towards Yosemite.  Once we arrived at Yosemite in the early afternoon, we drove through the park as efficiently as possible in order to see all the sites before sunset.  This was made possible from our encounter at the entrance with Canadian Climber, Pass the Pitons Pete, who drew us a map of the park marking the best places for photography.  Pete is a passionate outdoorsman, who allegedly (yet to be substantiated), owns the record for most nights stayed on top of El Capitan at a total of 530.  As he left us walking into the wilderness he told us “have a good one aye”.

Make sure to check out his youtube video to fully understand the person that we met.

In our short stay at Yosemite we tried to see as much of nature as we possibly could including the sunset over the Half Dome.

After sunset we left Yosemite and made our way to Monterey, arriving at 1am just barely before running out of gas.
